Additionally, while tadalafil did not alter the effectiveness of most antiepileptic drugs, it enhanced the anticonvulsant activity of clonazepam and reduced the effectiveness of oxcarbazepine in the i.v. PTZ test.
The study has limitations, including its animal model design, which may not fully represent human responses to tadalafil. Furthermore, while tadalafil showed some potential to increase the risk of myoclonic seizures, it did not appear to heighten the risk of more severe seizure types. Patients, especially those with epilepsy, should consult their healthcare providers about the use of tadalafil, particularly if they are on antiepileptic medications, to discuss potential risks and benefits based on this research.
