Overview

Cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride tablets, USP are used along with rest and physical therapy to help relieve muscle spasm linked to acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions. The label says improvement may include less pain, tenderness, limitation of motion, and restriction in everyday activities.

This medicine is meant for short-term use only, generally up to two or three weeks. The label says it has not been found effective for spasticity from cerebral or spinal cord disease, or in children with cerebral palsy.

The tablets are available in 5 mg, 7.5 mg, and 10 mg strengths for oral use. The 5 mg tablets are white to off-white, film coated, round, and biconvex.

• Seek medical care right away if symptoms of serotonin syndrome occur, such as confusion, agitation, hallucinations, sweating, fast heartbeat, fever, tremor, muscle rigidity, or vomiting.
• The label says older adults and people with liver impairment may need lower starting doses and slower dose increases.
• If overdose is suspected, the label says hospital monitoring is required as soon as possible.
• Do not use with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days after stopping an MAO inhibitor.
