Overview
Ibuprofen Oral Suspension USP, 100 mg/5 mL is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is described in the label as having anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic activity.
The label lists use in pediatric patients 6 months up to 2 years of age for fever, mild to moderate pain, and signs and symptoms of juvenile arthritis. In adults, it is indicated for primary dysmenorrhea, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoarthritis.
The label warns that NSAIDs can increase the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including heart attack and stroke, and can cause serious stomach and intestinal bleeding, ulceration, or perforation. It also states the product is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ibuprofen, in patients who have had asthma, hives, or allergic-type reactions after aspirin or other NSAIDs, and in the setting of CABG surgery.
Storage Information
protection who require analgesics, consider use of an NSAID that does not interfere with the antiplatelet effect of aspirin, or non-NSAID analgesics, where appropriate. Store at 20 - 25ºC (68 - 77ºF) [see USP Controlled Room Temperature].
