Medication Summary: This section summarizes DailyMed drug label information to make the label easier to understand. It is not a substitute for the official label, pharmacist counseling, prescriber instructions, or medical advice.
Oxybutynin chloride tablets are an oral antispasmodic and anticholinergic medicine. Each scored, round, uncoated tablet contains 5 mg of oxybutynin chloride.
This medicine is indicated for relief of symptoms of bladder instability associated with voiding in patients with uninhibited neurogenic or reflex neurogenic bladder. Symptoms listed on the label include urgency, frequency, urinary leakage, urge incontinence, and dysuria.
The label says oxybutynin relaxes bladder smooth muscle and can increase bladder capacity, decrease involuntary bladder contractions, and reduce urgency and frequency of urination. It should be used with caution in certain patients because it may cause anticholinergic side effects and other risks listed on the label.
Store at 20° to 25°C (68° to 77°F); excursions permitted within 15°C to 30°C (59° to 86°F) [See USP Controlled Room Temperature]. Dispense in tight, light-resistant container as defined in the USP.
