FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KANSAS CITY, Missouri — May 26, 2026
Henry C. Service, J.D., Co-Founder of The Health Pals Company, is bringing together legal experience, community redevelopment, healthcare access, and historic preservation through Med Pals, a division of The Health Pals Company created to help restore healthcare access in underserved rural and urban communities.
The Health Pals Company is the parent company of Pill Pals Pharmacy, a pharmacy focused on making prescription medications more accessible and affordable. Through Med Pals, the company is working to transform historic, abandoned, and underutilized buildings in HUB Opportunity Zones and other underserved areas into healthcare hubs designed to support local patients, providers, pharmacies, and community partners.
The prototype, Med Pals of Kansas City, is located inside the historic Lincoln Building in Kansas City, Missouri. The 44,000-square-foot building, located in ZIP code 64108, sits in an urban community approximately half a mile from public housing. According to company leadership, the area has experienced significant healthcare loss over the past decade, including the departure of at least three pharmacies and two medical clinics, including two national pharmacy chains, due to crime, economic blight, and related community challenges.
Mr. Service’s work with the Lincoln Building has already drawn public attention. The building, a historic part of Kansas City’s 18th & Vine district, has been the subject of an $11 million renovation effort intended to preserve its legacy while creating renewed space for entrepreneurship and community services.
“Traditionally, rural and urban HUB opportunity zones have been ignored by venture capital and private equity firms in the past,” said Henry C. Service, J.D. “Most VC and PE firms have shied away from investing in low income and rural areas, and the result has been devastating for those communities. By partnering my company, Service Enterprises, with The Health Pals Company, we intend to demonstrate that providing accessible and affordable healthcare can also be profitable.”
Mr. Service brings decades of legal, regulatory, and public service experience to the initiative. His background includes work with The Service Law Offices, Polsinelli Shalton Flanigan Suelthaus PC, Shook Hardy & Bacon, the Missouri Section for Long-Term Care Regulation, the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office, and federal legal work involving the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Department of Justice. His experience spans litigation, regulatory compliance, long-term care regulation, mediation, legal research, trial preparation, and administrative law. Service Enterprises is his real estate, investments, and holdings company.
The Med Pals model is not limited to urban areas. The Health Pals Company has also acquired buildings in rural communities with the goal of restoring healthcare services in areas primarily populated by rural, farming, agricultural, and migrant worker populations. The company believes that these communities often face the same access barriers seen in urban healthcare deserts: pharmacy closures, clinic shortages, transportation challenges, limited provider access, and lack of investment.
By pairing real estate redevelopment with pharmacy services, healthcare partnerships, and community-based infrastructure, The Health Pals Company aims to create a repeatable model for bringing practical healthcare access back to communities that have been overlooked by traditional investment channels.
“Med Pals is about more than just opening buildings,” said Dr. Felicia Udoji-Eddings, Pharm.D. of The Health Pals Company. “It is about restoring healthcare access, creating jobs, supporting local providers, and showing that underserved communities are worthy of serious investment. At The Health Pals Company, we believe that everyone deserves to have access to affordable Healthcare.”
