Overview

Amitriptyline hydrochloride tablets are a prescription antidepressant used for the relief of symptoms of depression. The label states that endogenous depression is more likely to be relieved than other depressive states.

Storage Information

Protect the patient's airway, establish an intravenous line and initiate gastric decontamination. Store at 20º to 25ºC (68º to 77ºF); excursions permitted to 15° to 30°C (59° to 86°F) [See USP Controlled Room Temperature].

• Be careful with alcohol and other CNS depressants because amitriptyline may increase their effects.
• Use caution with driving or hazardous tasks because the medicine may impair mental and physical abilities.
• Report symptoms of low sodium such as headache, confusion, weakness, memory problems, or unsteadiness.
• Older adults may be more sensitive to side effects such as constipation, dry mouth, urinary retention, blurred vision, sedation, confusion, and falls.
