Benztropine mesylate tablets are a prescription medicine in 0.5 mg, 1 mg, and 2 mg strengths for oral use. The label states that benztropine has anticholinergic and antihistaminic effects, with the anticholinergic effect being the one considered therapeutically important for parkinsonism.
These tablets are indicated as an adjunct treatment for all forms of parkinsonism. They are also used to help control extrapyramidal disorders caused by neuroleptic drugs, except tardive dyskinesia.
