Overview
Lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are a fixed-dose combination medicine used to treat high blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure can help reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including stroke and myocardial infarction.
This product combines lisinopril, an ACE inhibitor, with hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic. The label states that the combination may have additive blood-pressure-lowering effects and is available in more than one strength.
The label includes a boxed warning about fetal toxicity. If pregnancy is detected, lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide should be discontinued as soon as possible.
The medicine is not indicated for initial therapy. The label also lists important precautions and contraindications, including a history of angioedema related to ACE inhibitor use, hereditary or idiopathic angioedema, anuria, hypersensitivity to sulfonamide-derived drugs, and use with a neprilysin inhibitor such as sacubitril/valsartan.
Storage Information
Storage Store at 20° to 25°C (68° to 77°F).
