Overview
Lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets contain two medicines that work together to treat high blood pressure. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, and hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic, also called a water pill.
This medicine is used to lower blood pressure and may help reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as stroke and heart attack. The label says these fixed-dose combination tablets are not indicated for initial therapy.
The label includes a boxed warning for fetal toxicity. If pregnancy is detected, lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide should be discontinued as soon as possible because drugs that act on the renin-angiotensin system can cause injury and death to the developing fetus.
Important safety warnings include angioedema, low blood pressure, kidney-related effects, high potassium, and rare blood or liver problems. Hydrochlorothiazide can also cause acute myopia and secondary angle-closure glaucoma.
Storage Information
Storage Store at 20° to 25°C (68° to 77°F).
