Overview

Lisinopril tablets are an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor for oral use. They are indicated to treat high blood pressure in adults and in pediatric patients 6 years of age and older, as adjunct therapy for heart failure, and to reduce mortality in hemodynamically stable patients within 24 hours of acute myocardial infarction.

The label includes a boxed warning for fetal toxicity. If pregnancy is detected, lisinopril should be discontinued as soon as possible, because drugs that act on the renin-angiotensin system can cause injury and death to the developing fetus.

Lisinopril should not be used with sacubitril-containing products or in certain patients with angioedema, hypersensitivity, or hereditary or idiopathic angioedema. The label also warns about risks such as angioedema, low blood pressure, kidney problems, high potassium, and liver injury.
