• Take naltrexone exactly as directed by your physician.
• Do not start naltrexone if you are using opioids or have opioid withdrawal symptoms.
• Tell your healthcare provider about any recent opioid use, including tramadol, methadone, or buprenorphine.
• Carry identification that says you are taking naltrexone.
• Naltrexone can block opioid pain medicines, some cough and cold products, and antidiarrheal medicines.
• Do not try to override the opioid blockade by taking more opioids; this can cause serious injury, coma, or death.
• After stopping naltrexone, you may be more sensitive to opioids and at risk for overdose.
• Seek medical attention right away if you develop symptoms of liver disease or hepatitis.
• Report depression, suicidal thoughts, or unusual mood changes to a healthcare provider promptly.
• Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how naltrexone affects you, because dizziness may occur.
