Overview

Oxybutynin chloride tablets are an antispasmodic, anticholinergic medicine taken by mouth. Each scored, round, uncoated tablet contains 5 mg of oxybutynin chloride.

The label says this medicine is used to help relieve symptoms of bladder instability linked to voiding in patients with uninhibited neurogenic or reflex neurogenic bladder. These symptoms include urgency, frequency, urinary leakage, urge incontinence, and dysuria.

The tablet works by relaxing bladder smooth muscle and helping reduce involuntary bladder contractions. The label also notes that it has been studied in adults and in pediatric patients age 5 years and older.
