  • Gastric Malignancy:In adults, symptomatic response does not preclude presence of gastric malignancy. Consider additional follow-up and diagnostic testing. ( 5.1)
  • Acute Tubulointerstitial Nephritis:Discontinue treatment and evaluate patients. ( 5.2)
  • Clostridium difficile-Associated Diarrhea: PPI therapy may be associated with increased risk of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea. (5.3)
  • Bone Fracture: Long-term and multiple daily dose PPI therapy may be associated with an increased risk for osteoporosis-related fractures of the hip, wrist or spine. ( 5.4)
  • Severe Cutaneous

Overview

Pantoprazole sodium delayed-release tablets are a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). They are used for short-term treatment of erosive esophagitis associated with GERD, maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis in adults, and long-term treatment of pathological hypersecretory conditions, including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

The tablet should be swallowed whole, with or without food. Do not split, chew, or crush the delayed-release tablets. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible unless it is almost time for the next dose; do not take two doses at the same time.

Common adverse reactions in adults include headache, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, flatulence, dizziness, and arthralgia. Serious reactions described in the label include acute tubulointerstitial nephritis, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, severe skin reactions, low magnesium, vitamin B-12 deficiency, bone fracture, and lupus-like reactions.

Storage Information

STORAGE AND HANDLING How Supplied Pantoprazole Sodium Delayed-Release Tablets, USP are supplied as 20 mg yellow to pale yellow, oval, biconvex, delayed-release tablets imprinted “H125” on one side with black ink and plain on the other side. Storage Store pantoprazole sodium delayed-release tablets, USP at 20° to 25°C (68° to 77°F) [see USP Controlled Room Temperature]. store pantoprazole sodium delayed-release tablets?
