When to seek urgent care
Seek urgent medical help if you experience chest pain, severe dizziness, fainting, sudden vision loss, sudden hearing decrease or hearing loss, severe allergic reaction symptoms, or an erection lasting more than 4 hours. A prolonged erection, also called priapism, can cause permanent damage if not treated promptly.
If chest pain occurs after taking tadalafil, do not take nitrates unless emergency medical professionals direct care. Tell the emergency team that you took tadalafil and when you took it.
Side effects may be more likely in some patients
Patients with kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, low blood pressure, retinal disorders, a history of priapism, blood cell disorders, or complex medication lists may need extra caution. Age alone does not automatically rule out tadalafil, but older adults are more likely to take interacting medications, so medication review matters.
