• Take metoclopramide exactly as prescribed and for the shortest duration needed.
• For reflux or diabetic gastroparesis, doses are often taken 30 minutes before meals and at bedtime.
• Do not use for longer than 12 weeks for symptomatic, documented gastroesophageal reflux.
• Stop the medicine and get immediate medical attention if involuntary movements, muscle spasms, or other movement problems occur.
• Tell a healthcare professional right away about symptoms such as anxiety, agitation, restlessness, tremor, or stiffness.
• Avoid alcohol and be careful with other medicines that can cause drowsiness or movement side effects.
• Do not take with antipsychotic medicines unless a clinician has specifically directed it, because of additive risks.
• The medicine may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.
